Creatures of the Oracle is een performance waarin Manon het publiek uitnodigt voor een orakel-lezing, gebaseerd op kaarten die hen heeft gemaakt. Dit orakel is het resultaat van een onderzoek naar verschillende mythologische figuren en fantasiewezens. Iedere kaart van het orakel belichaamt een monster, een ambigu, onmenselijk of deels menselijk wezen. Manon beschouwt deze lezingen als een persoonlijk gesprek tussen het monster en de persoon in kwestie. Door dit orakel neemt Manon de vernietigingskracht om normatieve waarden te doorbreken en van andere wezens de kracht om nieuwe mogelijkheden te creëren.

Manon Montravers is een queer en non-binair artiest. Die werkt en leeft in Dijon, Frankrijk. Hun werk vertrekt vaak vanuit legendaire verhalen, elementen van folklore, traditionele sprookjes, die Manon (her)interpreteert en (her)investeert. Dit door verschillende media zoals performance, tekst, sculptuur, installatie, textiel of objecten. Op deze wijze probeert die om nieuwe mythologieën van emancipatie te creëren, en verhalen te vertellen die onze relatie tot gender, identiteit, liefde en seksualiteit in vraag stellen.
Creatures of the Oracle is a performance where Manon invites the audience to an oracle reading, based on cards that they created. This oracle is the result of a research around different mythological figures and fantastic creatures. Each card of this oracle is embodied by a monster, an ambiguous, non-human, or partially human creature. Manon do these readings as a private talk between me and another person, where they use the cards in a divinatory practice, personal development and introspection, where they propose to each participant to project themselves into these figures, to imagine them as emblems of plural queer identities.
The monsters of our mythologies, by proposing personalities that do not fit into traditional normative patterns, by escaping the typical human/animal distinction, can give non-conforming keys of identification. « A monster is often a hideously grotesque animal or human, or a hybrid of both, whose appearance frightens and whose powers of destruction threaten the human world's social or moral order. » Through this oracle, Manon proposes to get from the monsters their power of destruction of normative schemes, and from the creatures, the power of creating new possibilities.

Their work often takes as a starting point legendary stories, elements of folklore, traditional tales, that they (re)invest and (re)interpret ; through various mediums, such as performance, text, sculpture, installation, textiles, or the creation of various objects, in an attempt to create new mythologies of emancipation, to tell stories that question our relationship to gender, identity, love and sexuality.
