In de hedendaagse consumptiemaatschappij wordt verlangen geïmplementeerd in commerciële esthetiek, die ver af staat van het echte leven. De vloeiende volmaakte beelden, die ons in de reclame worden voorgeschoteld zijn steriel en strak. Ozan Ünlükoç onderzoekt of dit onze seksualiteit verstoort, onze beleving van genot en de weg daar naartoe.
Ozan Ünlükoç studeerde film en kunstgeschiedenis, en nam deel aan groepstentoonstellingen, waaronder die van de Istanbul Pride Week. Hij werkt zowel solo als met kunstcollectieven en maakt deel uit van de organisatie van Baki Koşar, het enige queer kunstenfestival in Turkije.

The sterile images on desire are being reduced to advertising aesthetics under the economic circumstances of today’s society. The flawless and fluid display of consumption, the basic principles of advertising are rarely finding their repercussions in real life. On the other hand; this sterilization cannot disrupt the dureê of sexuality by bringing to light the question of the abject. Is Pleasure one complete concept? Are the stations along the way to Pleasure also included in it? Or are they free from it?
Ozan Ünlükoç studied Art History and Film Design. Ozan Ünlükoç contributed to some group exhibits, including the Istanbul Pride Week’s exhibits. Continuing to work as a solo artist as well as collaborating with art collectives while being in the organizing committee of Baki Koşar, the only queer arts festival in Turkey.

RIOT NOT DIET
Bilbo is een reactie op een lesbo/porno-chique reclamepancarte, die eind jaren '90 in de metro van Parijs te zien was en een eerbetoon aan Janette Winterson (Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit). Het is een speelse en poëtisch visite van een geanimeerde dildo bij de vrouw die we nooit te zien krijgen. Lamathilde toont fysieke intimiteit met een klein speeltje dat een groot vrouwenlichaam ontdekt.
Lamathilde onderzoekt identiteit door seksualiteit, met behulp van low-grade video, super 8, gemanipuleerde filmbeelden en stop-motion. Geluid is daarbij van cruciaal belang. Ze maakt deel uit van het collectief WWKA, maakte radio en is een actief lid van de kunstscene in Montreal.

A short video created in reaction to the staging of porno chic lesbian advertising that ran in very big pictures in all metro stations in Paris in the late 90s. A tribute to Jeanette Winterson (Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit), Bildo is a playful and poetic visit with my double dildo animated: a look at the female body we never see: the physical intimacy, the body close to us more and more distant. A little female toy discovering amig female body.
About The Artist: Lamathilde’s work investigates identity through sexuality and gender using low-grade video, super8, manipulated film footage and stop-motion animation. Sound is at the core of her practice. She is part of the sound-performance collective WWKA, has hosted a radio show for 5 years and is an active member of the Montreal visual arts scene.

“FaerieFilm” (1993) is Eugene Salandra’s bekroonde geänimeerde documentaire over de Radical Faeries. Vanuit de originele negatieven werd de film onlangs digitaal herwerkt. Audio interviews met zeven leden van de New Yorkse Faerie community uit de vroege jaren ‘90 worden samengebracht met kleurrijke animaties.
Eugene Salandra is een animatiekunstenaar in Los Angeles, Californië. Hij heeft lang voor Disney gewerkt, aan projecten zoals “Kim Possible” of “Sofia the First”. Eugene verhuisde van New Jersey naar New York om aan de NYU film en televisie te studeren; daarnaast studeerde hij ook tekenkunst aan de Art Students League of New York. Zijn mentoren waren Tissa David and John Canemaker.

"FaerieFilm," Eugene Salandra's award-winning 1993 animated documentary about the Radical Faeries, has now been digitally remastered from the original negatives. Audio interviews with seven members of the New York Faerie community in the early 1990's are combined with colorful animated images.
Eugene Salandra is an animation artist in Los Angeles, California. Much of his career has been spent working at Disney on such projects as "Kim Possible" and "Sofia the First." Originally from New Jersey, Eugene studied film and television at NYU, and drawing at the Art Students League of New York. His mentors were Tissa David and John Canemaker.

Dan komt ze de charismatische en sensuele Bacchus tegen, die haar meelokt naar een kleurrijke wereld - het compleet tegenovergestelde van haar eigen realiteit. Rikke Planeta (*1993) is een regisseur en CG-artist uit Kopenhagen, Denemarken. Ze is onlangs afgestudeerd aan The Animation Workshop, waar ze op modelling, sculpting en texturing focuste, als ook op verhaalontwikkeling en karakterontwikkeling. Bacchus is haar eerste film, en ze hoopt om in de toekomst opnieuw regie te doen.

One day, she sees Bacchus, a charismatic sensual figure, who lures her into a colorful world, which is the complete opposite of her own reality. In this mysterious place, you are free to follow your instincts and explore your deepest desires.
Rikke Planeta (*1993) is a director and CG-artist from Copenhagen, Denmark. She recently graduated from The Animation Workshop, with her main focuses being modelling, sculpting and texturing, as well as story development and character exploration. Bacchus is her first film, and she hopes to direct again in the future.

Poof Paradise
De beeldtaal in poof paradise doet de kijker denken aan een pastelkleurige sprookje. Onze princes*, een rooskleurige anus die een reis onderneemt naar de mystieke ruimte van de cruising area. Kleurrijke handen proberen onze protagonist te verleiden en communicatie is beperkt tot een oppervlakkig en betekenisloos minimum. Cruising gebeurt op openbare plaatsen, maar staat toch ergens ver af van onze heteronormatieve maatschappij. In poof paradise veranderen deze plaatsen in een surreële wereld waar de mogelijkheden van queer identiteiten eindeloos zijn, en de grenzen van onze maatschappelijke normen vervagen. De kunstenaars creëren een lustvol amalgaam van het lieve en het bizarre.
Berivan Sayici en Florian Aschka ontmoetten elkaar aan de University of Applied Arts Vienna waar ze fotografie studeerden, en later opnieuw toen ze aan de academy of fine arts Vienna bij Hans Ashley Scheirl studeerden. Sindsdien hebben ze samen talrijke artistieke projecten gerealiseerd. Hun meest recente werk, de video installatie Poof Paradise, werd 2018 in het Freud Museum Vienna en in de 5020 Gallerij in Salzburg, Oostenrijk.

In poof paradise, the imagery is reminding the viewer of a pastel coloured fairy-tale. Our princess*, if you will, is a pink anus that takes on a journey to the often mystical place of the cruising area. Where colourful hands try to seduce our protagonist and communication is set to a meaningless and shallow minimum. Cruising usually happens far away from our heteronormative society but at the same time in public spaces. In poof paradise those spaces transform into a surreal world where the possibilities of queer identities are endless and the existing boundaries of our societal norms dissolve. Influenced by James Bidgood and John Waters, the artists create a lustful amalgam of the sweet and the bizarre.
Berivan Sayici and Florian Aschka met at the University of Applied Arts Vienna where they studied photography and later at the academy of fine arts Vienna where they studied under Hans Ashley Scheirl. Since then, they realised numerous artistic projects together. Their latest work, the video installation Poof Paradise was exhibited in 2018 at the Freud Museum Vienna and at the 5020 Gallery in Salzburg, Austria.

In Leisure Suit Larry, een videogame uit 1989, dwaalt Larry door de jungle op zoek gaat naar liefde. Het doel van het spel – getting Larry layed – laat weinig aan de verbeelding over, maar het kleine hitsige pixelmannetje wordt voortdurend afgewezen door de perfecte onbereikbare vrouw Passionate Patti. Dat leidt uiteraard tot een bak frustratie. Alex Hovet betrekt hierbij het werk van feministe Bell Hooks, dat haaks staat op het ego van Larry en de constructie van het spel.
Alex Hovet is beeldend kunstenaar in New York. Haar werk is regelmatig te zien in binnen- en buitenland, zoals op het Milwaukee Underground Film Festival, het Berlin Experimental Film Festival, de Sweet Art Gallery in Londen en de Nieuwe Vide Gallery in Nederland. Ze heeft een MFA in fotografie, video en media (School of Visual Arts in New York City) en een BA van Bennington College in Vermont.

In the 1989 adult-oriented computer series, Leisure Suit Larry wanders the jungle of a colonized village searching for love, which he finds after a multitude of failed romantic interactions with Passionate Patti, a perfect and unattainable woman. In an act of cathexis Larry's energies concentrate on Patti in a complex of libido, love, and gender expression that leads Larry/Patti on an investigation of duality. Bell hooks' meditations on love attempt to guide them but are rejected and re-purposed by the game's instinct. Blocked by his own ego and the constructs of the game in which he wanders Larry's desires are continually repressed.
Alex Hovet is a visual artist based in New York City. Her work in video has been included in exhibits and screenings nationally and internationally, including the Milwaukee Underground Film Festival, the Berlin Experimental Film Festival, the Sweet 'Art Gallery in London, and Nieuwe Vide Gallery in the Netherlands. She holds an MFA in Photography, Video and Related Media from the School of Visual Arts in New York City and a BA from Bennington College in Vermont.
